Hello! I’m Maria Teresa, also known as Maria or Teresa. Growing up in the Philippines, where it’s common for girls to have the first name “Maria” and a second name, I embraced both names as part of my identity. As I embarked on my travels across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, people I encountered would often refer to me as Maria, and I grew accustomed to responding to both names.

I am a Registered Nurse with over 40 years of experience specializing in Neonatal Intensive Care. My journey began at a prestigious children’s hospital in Manila, Philippines, where I spent my first three years gaining invaluable expertise. Eager for new challenges, I accepted a job offer in the United Arab Emirates, leading the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Khorfakkan Hospital for five years. This experience allowed me to immerse myself in a different culture and learn their language.

In 1990, I migrated to the United States of America and worked in various hospitals in New York and New Jersey, primarily in levels 3 and 4 neonatal units. Throughout my career, I have witnessed the profound emotional connection between mothers, babies, and healthcare professionals like myself. It is truly fulfilling to be part of the “healing world” and witness the joy of parents as they take their precious infants home after a challenging journey of treatments and transitions.

However, my dedication to supporting families doesn’t end there. I have become inspired to assist parents, particularly those who are just starting their journey. I consider myself an advocate, fighting for the well-being of babies and their parents. That’s why I am here for you as your “Baby’s Buddy”
